Tracing the beginnings of Islam to the 610 A.D. revelation to Muhammad that he is the Messenger of God it follows its development through to 2006, with an epilogue tying many aspects together. This is a very illuminating text for today’s reader.

The Little Blue Book; The Essential Guide to Thinking and Talking Democratic is described by its co-authors as, “…a handbook for Democrats, intended for immediate use in the current political moment”. George Lakoff and Elisabeth Wehling draw distinct lines between talking and action; and thought. They assert that pundits may assess the former but cannot effectively assess the latter. The authors state that, “Messaging is about thinking, not just language. To get language right, you have to understand the thought it conjures up”. The relationship between politics and various moral structures is examined, and, not surprisingly, “Extreme Conservatism” is ultimately deigned a “threat to humane government everywhere.” The reader is specifically told how to re-frame arguments and to say, for example, “Conservative office holders who refuse to raise taxes as a matter of conservative principle are creating deficits (their emphasis)”. They advocate for the “sacred moral mission of government”. A very interesting read, there is a lot to be debated here!
