The Students of Democratic Society at Montclair plan “Occupy MSU.” The event has been ongoing and carrying out different themes. Today, they carried out a March on campus. Last week, they planned “Occupy Susan Coles Office.” About thirty students marched and demanded a meeting with her until she spoke. They discussed issues relating to the campus.
Next, they plan to “Occupy Economics 101” They plan on initiating a sequence of events that started last week at Harvard University. Students at Harvard University told economics professor Gregory Mankiw, “Today, we are walking out of your class.”
In response to the walkout, Mankiw has only doubled down his orthodoxy claiming that the 1 percent have suffered more than the 99 percent. Kono Matsu (writer at kick it over.org) says to download the poster “True Costs Economics Manifesto,” post it everywhere on your campus and start a revolution. At MSU, thanks to the push by Doreen Finkle (owner of the campustea), conservative students are able to offer a counter protest with differing opinions. Whose to say however that this Occupy Stuff will not spread. In this day and age of social networking we won’t be surprised if it did.
